In this experimental exhibition setting, we are landing on the moon, where we are showing artworks for the future. A branch of the exhibition got curated in Canada. Due to the unique approach we presented this exhibition many times in various locations, for example at CCC#37 in Hamburg, following an invitation of Chaos Computer Club.

Whatever the future may actually bring, we believe that we should try to shape technologies, social revolutions, ideas and spaces, so that humankind will be enabled to reimagine itself. We want to finally be able to process changes to society by representing ideas and critiques and taking a stance on them.

  • The age of Augmented Reality requires a different perspective on the space surrounding us. The earth as our habitat, is threatened in its existence. The effects of climate change are becoming increasingly noticeable, but also capitalism and the continuing wars and military conflicts are taking their toll. Dystopian utopias show our future in space, because mankind has always been fascinated by the cosmos and its all-encompassing infinity, and art has always participated in this field.

  • But before we begin to resettle our planet, issues of colonialism, exploitation and our responsibilities towards the natural world urgently need to be rethought. The exhibition [ Voyage dans la Lune ] invites the public to travel to the moon, while reflecting on our very old but rapidly changing relationship with our beloved companion Earth.

  • It took us a year of development to bring this idea into reality, or rather, to land it on the moon. Not only the brand new concept of exhibiting AR artworks with geo mapping on real places on the moon, but also a completely new code was developed by us for the realization of this project.

  • To give our visitors a special feeling, you can actively step through a portal onto the moon. After entering, you then find yourself in the middle of the AR artwork, surrounded by an interstellar soundscape and can start exploring. Turning around, you can see our blue Earth in the distance. This allows you to completely immerse in the virtual atmosphere and experience another, different realm in depth.

  • Madi Piller, our long term collaboration partner, was very interested in this idea and curated a branch of the exhibition in Canada named [ Translunar Formation ]. Thanks to The Petman Foundation, we got funding to develop an exhibition with 12 artists in Toronto. In Vienna, we invited students of Experimental Game Cultures at the University of Applied Arts, among others, to join our plan to inhabit the moon.

  • The concepts curated by our collective SystemKollektiv are unique and represent the creative mind of evolving artists. We are proud to present them as permanent monuments on the moon and hope they will have an impact on the mindset of our kind.
