When space on Earth is running out, new planets and worlds need to be discovered. In this workshop for kids aged 8 to 14 we build Mars settlements with the use of AI, 3D scans and our Artificial Lab, which can then be visited in augmented reality.

  • We do not understand Mars to be an imperial project, or conquistador style colonization project, as some billionaires seem to think of it. We instead believe that, maybe because of those misguided conceptions, Mars will be a proper staging ground for our futuristic thoughts. But who should we ask but our own future, children between the ages of 8 to 14?

  • That's why, in collaboration with gold extra, we held a workshop, where we worked out some pretty spectacular visions of the kids for an utopian life on Mars. Incidentally, we were able to test our Artificial LAB for ease of use. We are happy to have been part of Kinderstadt Salzburg together with gold extra, a super nice group of artists creating artworks in and in-between games, digital art, theater and visual arts.

For us, art is a way of communicating and researching, and we want to collaborate with many people in our projects. In our work, we want to find out how technology shapes our society and how we can deal with technology. The collaboration with SystemKollektiv is ideal for us because we share many common interests, approaches and passions. We hope to continue working together for a long time to come!

  • In this workshop, specially developed in association with gold extra for Kinderstadt Salzburg, the children used artificial intelligence, our ARM editor, as well as 3D scans and much more to build Mars settlements, which are visitable in Augmented Reality.

Kinderstadt Salzburg (Salzburg Children's City) is organized every two years by the Spektrum association. The young city dwellers are confronted with familiar and unfamiliar situations and live and work in different roles in their city. They make decisions and take responsibilities for themselves and others. From an educational perspective, the Kinderstadt Salzburg stands for children's rights, political education, participation, play and culture. For the children, it is an experience, experiment, adventure and last but not least fun.
