Combining activism and art, the project explores cycling as a tool of transformation and visibility through artistic AR interventions in Salzburg city’s urban space — turning intersections into playful, critical zones for change.

-
As part of gold extra’s research project “Augmented Reality Communities”, a unique collaboration between bicycle activists, artists, and spatial planners has brought an interactive AR bicycle game to Salzburg’s public spaces. A fresh combination of activism and gaming aspects gets your wheels turning and your thoughts racing.
The collaboration with SystemKollektiv is ideal for us because we share many common interests, approaches, and passions. We hope for a long and continued cooperation!

How dangerous are Salzburg’s junctions? What kind of cyclist are you, and how do you navigate urban chaos? Together with gold extra and in collaboration with spicy cycling girls*, Radlobby, Kollektiv Kollinski and Wissenschaft & Kunst, we have co-developed an augmented reality bicycle game for public space, using the Artificial LAB & NET. The game features AR installations, intersection challenges, and immersive, playful perspectives on city cycling. Combining activism and art, the initiative merges creative interventions with pressing urban mobility issues. It was also the first project to activate its own map in the Artificial Museum cosmos using Artificial LAB & NET.
Artists/Team:
