Lichtgebilde #2311

  • Hidèo Snes

"Our bodies and our actions are inextricably linked with computer-based systems," states Hidéo Snes. Computer-based systems work with algorithms – complex computational processes that are described in a sequence of instructions. To what extent is our behavior and thinking thereby mathematically graspable or predictable? The artist also raises existential questions about what it means to be human: Do we reach the next stage of evolution through fusion with technology, as described by the philosophical school of transhumanism? In his artistic contribution for the Wiener Lichtblicke, Hidéo Snes virtually simulated the distribution of an idea in society. His light graphic shows zones where the idea condenses, but also those where it spreads fractally, taking up more and more space and perhaps even evolving further. Could democracy be such an idea?
