Lichtgebilde #2304

  • Deborah Sengl

For the Wiener Lichtblicke 2023, Deborah Sengl lets two doves fly, each carrying half of a peace symbol. They represent the shared desire for peace and reference the song "Give Peace a Chance". It was recorded in 1969 by John Lennon, Yoko Ono, and guests in a hotel room and has since become one of the most popular songs in peace campaigns. Deborah Sengl’s light graphics make it clear that peace always takes two. They must search for each other, find each other, and come together. Compromise and cooperation are key to this. Will the two doves meet?

"Loosely based on the famous song (lyrics), two doves stand here for the shared desire for peace. Its fulfillment can only happen collectively. An approach is in sight. Let us all work on it. It's high time!" (Deborah Sengl)
